TRICKERY, TREACHERY, TYRANNY & TREASON SERIES
Tyranny – T4 Series 2 Troy Ounce Silver Round
Liberty’s crown is in the wrong hands. Tyranny presents a stark allegory of power turned against freedom, rendered in 2 troy ounces of .999 fine silver. A seated ruler wears Lady Liberty’s crown while Liberty herself lies at his feet, still holding her torch. The familiar symbols make the reversal immediately unsettling.
The Meaning of the Torch
The Statue of Liberty’s formal name is Liberty Enlightening the World, and its torch represents enlightenment. Given by the people of France to the United States, the monument became an enduring expression of freedom and democracy. Those associations give the torch a meaning that reaches far beyond its physical shape.
This T4 design takes that recognizable emblem into a darker setting. Liberty’s weakened grip preserves the idea of a light that has not been willingly surrendered, while the appropriated crown and draped flag show symbols of freedom being claimed by oppressive power. The scene is an artistic warning, expressed through personification rather than a portrait of a named ruler.
Obverse Design
Tyranny sits wearing Lady Liberty’s crown, a sword in his right hand and the stars and stripes across his lap. Liberty lies below, with the blade at her neck and the torch weakly clasped in her hand. The arrangement sets the dominant seated figure against the vulnerable figure beneath, giving the design its central visual conflict.
Reverse Design
The shared T4 reverse shows Liberty’s face partly as cracked plaster and partly as skeleton. Knives labeled “TREASON,” “TREACHERY,” “TRICKERY” and “TYRANNY” appear with snakes and a rat skull. A banner above reads “POWER – CORRUPTION – LIES,” and the hallmark follows the lower circumference.
