Snowflake – 1 Troy Ounce Holiday Silver Round

A holiday round from Intaglio Mint! The Snowflake silver round celebrates one of winter’s smallest wonders, giving an intricate ice-crystal design a lasting home in one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. Its detailed relief brings the quiet beauty of falling snow into a piece that can be enjoyed long after the season has passed.

Winter’s Geometry

A snow crystal begins its journey in a cloud, where water vapor freezes onto a tiny particle and the crystal grows as more vapor joins it. The familiar six-sided pattern reflects the arrangement of water molecules in ice. What looks like a delicate winter ornament is also an expression of nature’s underlying structure.

Temperature and moisture help determine the form a growing crystal takes. Some develop as simple plates or columns; others grow branching arms with increasingly elaborate detail. As conditions change along the crystal’s path through a cloud, its shape can change with them. That combination of order and variation is part of what makes snowflakes so fascinating to examine.

Obverse Design

The obverse features a very detailed snowflake in relief. The design gives this fleeting subject a permanent form, allowing the pattern to be appreciated without a magnifying glass or a race against melting ice. It is a fitting winter theme for a holiday gift or a seasonal addition to a silver collection.

Reverse Design

The reverse displays the high-relief Intaglio Mint logo over a radial burst. A stippled border carries “ONE TROY OUNCE” above and “.999 FINE SILVER” below on a textured background, with stars at either side.
