The Great Earthquake is the sixth release in Intaglio Mint’s Seven Seals of the Apocalypse series, continuing the collection’s sculptural interpretation of the powerful imagery found in the Book of Revelation.
The obverse presents a richly detailed landscape torn apart by catastrophe. Deep fractures divide the ground, jagged mountains rise beneath a turbulent sky, and falling stars descend toward the shattered earth. Figures huddle among the rocks below, conveying the fear and vulnerability of humanity within John’s prophetic vision. Above the scene, two winged figures frame the heavens, while curling scrolls and biblical inscriptions complete the composition. Carefully engraved textures bring movement and depth to the fractured terrain, flowing garments, and dramatic celestial imagery.
The reverse carries the collection’s ornate emblem, with the seven-horned Lamb at its center and a flowing banner bearing 7 SEALS OF THE APOCALYPSE. Winged figures and symbolic creatures surround the central device, creating a balanced composition of intricate feathers, sweeping scrollwork, and decorative borders. The copper version’s outer inscription identifies the round’s weight, purity, and Intaglio Mint origin.
