Garden Gnomes Gone Fishing – 1 Troy Ounce Silver Round
Some days are best spent waiting for a bite. Garden Gnomes Gone Fishing captures two companions settled together on a branch, enjoying a quiet fishing trip. Intaglio Mint turns this small moment of garden fantasy into a one troy ounce .999 fine silver round with an easygoing personality.
From Garden Ornament to Silver Scene
The familiar garden gnome belongs to a tradition shaped by European stories of small supernatural beings and by the craft of making decorative figures. Germany became an important center for garden-gnome production during the nineteenth century. Heissner, one of the well-known manufacturers, began making them in Thuringia in 1872.
Fishing gnomes have a history of their own. London’s Garden Museum preserves a terracotta example dating to around 1900, part of a group of figures shown fishing, shooting, and playing golf in an imagined Alpine setting. Long before this silver design, makers were giving gnomes leisure pursuits as well as garden duties.
That playful tradition is the heart of this round. The two figures are enjoying time together, and the fishing scene leaves room for the viewer’s imagination: perhaps the catch will be memorable, or perhaps the company is the real reason for the outing.
Obverse Design
Two gnomes sit side by side on a branch, fishing together. The shared perch brings the figures into a close composition and makes their companionship the focus of the scene. It is a relaxed subject suited to anyone who enjoys garden characters, fishing, or a little humor in a silver collection.
Reverse Design
A large Intaglio Mint logo fills the reverse within a plain border. “ONE TROY OUNCE” appears above, with “.999 FINE SILVER” and flanking stars completing the silver-content design.
