Foo Fighter – 1 Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver Round
design by M6 Metals
During World War II, Allied aircraft pilots used the term “foo fighters” to describe unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and mysterious aerial phenomena they saw in the skies. The term was first reported in November 1944, and witnesses believed the foo fighters were secret weapons used by the enemy.
A Historical Name with a Double Meaning
The “Alien Property Custodian” seal gives the design a playful historical twist. The real wartime office, re-established in 1942, administered property associated with enemy nationals under federal wartime authority. In that context, “alien” referred to foreign nationality—not visitors from another world. Its appearance alongside the UFO imagery is part of the round’s imaginative treatment of the subject.
