DIMPLES – 1/2 Troy Ounce .999 Fine Silver Ball Marker | Mint Markers®
Description:
A full face of golf-ball dimples — an entire 30mm disk of them — covering the obverse edge to edge. Elegant, minimalist, and mildly unsettling. Set it on the fringe next to your ball and your partner will do a double-take trying to figure out which one is actually in play. Effective camouflage. Arguable ethics.
The Legend:
The dimple was a happy accident. In the mid-1800s, gutta-percha golf balls actually flew farther once they were scuffed, nicked, and generally abused by a long day of rocks and roots. Some smart pro in Scotland decided to put the dents in on purpose. A century and a half later, the modern golf ball has between 300 and 500 of them, all doing math you and I will never understand. Put this marker down and you are holding a small tribute to the most important physics joke in sport.
