2023 Nativity Blessed Christmas – 1 Troy Ounce Silver Round

A Christmas greeting on one side and the Nativity on the other: Intaglio Mint’s 2023 Blessed Christmas round pairs a dated keepsake with the story at the heart of the Christian holiday. Struck in one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, it offers a lasting way to remember a particular Christmas while returning to a much older tradition.

A Scene Remembered Across Centuries

The Gospel of Luke describes Mary laying the newborn Jesus in a manger and shepherds coming to Bethlehem after hearing the announcement of his birth. Those details helped shape the Nativity imagery that became familiar in churches, paintings, sculpture, and family displays.

One especially influential moment came at Greccio in Italy in 1223, when Saint Francis of Assisi arranged a Christmas commemoration centered on the manger. The gathering brought the story into a setting people could experience together and became a landmark in the tradition of Nativity scenes.

The year 2023 marked eight centuries since that Greccio celebration, adding an interesting historical connection to the date on this round. The piece is presented as Intaglio Mint’s Blessed Christmas issue; the anniversary provides context rather than implying a separate official commemorative designation.

Obverse Design

“Blessed Christmas” appears in stylized lettering alongside the date “2023.” The greeting makes the round suitable as a seasonal remembrance, while the date anchors it to a specific year.

Reverse Design

The reverse features a Nativity scene, continuing a visual tradition centered on the birth of Jesus. The hallmark is positioned near eleven o’clock along the outer circumference, leaving the scene as the main focus.
