1914-D Lincoln Fantasy Sandwich – 1 oz Silver
A wheat cent enclosed in silver, with the minting process on display.
We struck two half-troy-ounce .999 fine silver planchets with an authentic Lincoln wheat-back cent between them. The outer faces carry a Lincoln cent tribute design, while the genuine cent at the center is flattened and enlarged by the striking pressure.
How the Sandwich Is Made
The two silver planchets together contain one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. The Lincoln cent is an additional component. We selected a striking pressure that allows the pieces to come apart so the center coin can be viewed, making the construction itself part of the experience.
Marks and abrasions are present on both outer faces. These result from the demanding striking process. The listed Brilliant Uncirculated finish should be understood alongside that condition disclosure, rather than as a promise of flawless surfaces.
The Wheat-Cent Connection
Victor David Brenner’s Lincoln cent appeared in 1909, marking the centennial of Lincoln’s birth. Its wheat-ear reverse remained in use through 1958. This fantasy piece echoes that familiar composition while bringing a genuine example of the wheat-cent type into the construction.
The 1914 date and D mint-mark motif belong to the outer tribute design. The center is described as an authentic Lincoln wheat-back cent; no particular date or mint mark is promised for that enclosed coin.
