Zombie Zodiacs Leo – 1 Troy Ounce – 39mm
A roar from beyond the end of the world.
Leo’s powerful lion becomes a snarling undead creature in Intaglio Mint’s Zombie Zodiacs series. A sweeping mane frames the damaged face and open jaws, giving this round an immediate, confrontational presence. One troy ounce of .999 fine silver fills the 39mm format, with a Brilliant Uncirculated finish highlighting the fine strands of the mane and the fearsome teeth.
The Lion Behind the Legend
Greek mythographers identified the constellation Leo with the Nemean lion, defeated by Heracles in the first of his labors. That legendary association gives the celestial lion a history of formidable strength. The zombie lion on this round takes the familiar motif into modern fantasy, replacing the classical beast with a creature that seems unwilling to stay defeated.
A Portrait Built Around the Roar
The lion faces outward with its mouth wide open, drawing the eye toward the long teeth and dark recesses of the jaws. Uneven, decayed facial features disrupt the symmetry of the portrait, while the full mane preserves the animal’s unmistakable outline. Fine concentric lines surround the head, with the Leo glyph above and “LEO” below.
The reverse carries the collection’s zombie Moon and Sun with radiating lines, surrounded by all twelve astrological symbols. This shared side connects Leo with the other Zombie Zodiacs rounds, balancing an individual animal portrait with the series’ broader celestial theme.
