UFOs Over Mount Rushmore – Four Presidents, Four Visitors

Mount Rushmore has seen generations of visitors, but this silver round imagines a distinctly different arrival. Four UFOs appear above the familiar presidential faces, turning a monumental American landmark into the setting for a science-fiction encounter. The scene is struck in 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver with a Brilliant Uncirculated finish.

The Work Behind the Landmark

Carving at Mount Rushmore extended from 1927 to 1941. Under Gutzon Borglum, hundreds of workers transformed the granite into enormous portraits of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln. The project combined artistic planning with demanding work high on the mountain face.

Its construction story is as striking as its scale. Workers were lowered in suspended seats to carry out drilling and carving, making the sculpture a feat of practical skill as well as monumental design. After Gutzon Borglum died in March 1941, his son Lincoln supervised the remaining work; the project was declared complete that October.

A New Arrival in the Black Hills

The round places an imaginative event above that very real achievement. Four craft over four portraits create an immediate visual pairing, joining the stillness of carved stone with the suggestion of movement in the sky. The UFO theme is a fictional addition to the landmark, giving collectors a playful way to combine an interest in American places with otherworldly possibilities.
