Sniper – 1 oz Silver Round

Observation, patience, and precision define the theme of this one troy ounce .999 fine silver round. A concealed marksman fills the obverse, while the reverse changes perspective to a view through a scope. The two sides create a connected composition in a 39mm Brilliant Uncirculated format.

More Than Marksmanship

The military sniper’s role extends beyond shooting skill. U.S. Army accounts emphasize reconnaissance, careful observation, and communicating information to commanders. Those responsibilities demand sustained attention and discipline, qualities reflected in the still, concentrated figure on the round.

The modern U.S. Army sniper course was established at Fort Benning in 1987, continuing a training tradition that had developed through earlier conflicts. This tribute presents the specialist through recognizable visual elements—camouflage, an optical sight, and a focused gaze—rather than depicting a named individual or particular engagement.

Obverse Design

A sniper peers through a rifle scope amid foliage and camouflage textures. The circular inscription reads FROM A PLACE YOU WILL NOT SEE and COMES A SOUND YOU WILL NOT HEAR. Two cartridge-head motifs separate the phrases, and dentils frame the edge.

Reverse Design

A domed scope view occupies the center, surrounded by fine radial lines. THE SNIPER appears above, with ONE TROY OUNCE .999 FINE SILVER below. Five cartridge-head motifs on each side balance the composition, linking the reverse border to the obverse details.

The pairing invites close inspection: one face shows the observer, while the other suggests the observer’s view. It is a distinctive addition to a collection focused on military themes and detailed silver artwork.
