The Legend
Horseshoes carry a long tradition of protective folklore, with different stories explaining their luck. One popular legend tells of Saint Dunstan, a blacksmith, being asked to shoe the devil, and the blacksmith drove the nails so deep the devil couldn’t walk afterward — whereupon he vowed never to enter a home with a horseshoe over the door. On the golf course, the equivalent would be a shanked wedge avoiding your good friend’s cart every single time. Hang the marker in your head-cover pocket and leave the rest to superstition.
