The Bride of Frankenstein is a fictional character created by Mary Shelley and first introduced in her 1818 novel Frankenstein. She also appears in the 1935 horror film Bride of Frankenstein, which is the first sequel to Universal Pictures’ 1931 film Frankenstein. In the film, the Bride is played by Elsa Lanchester.
In the film, Dr. Frankenstein is convinced by a mad scientist to build a mate for his monster. The doctor wants to leave the evil experiment business but agrees to help the mad scientist after he kidnaps his wife. The film also stars Boris Karloff as the Monster, Colin Clive as Henry Frankenstein, and Valerie Hobson as Elizabeth Frankenstein. James Whale directed the film, which is a blend of horror, suspense, and comedy.
