Alien Abduction – Dolphins – An Encounter Above the Ocean
The visitors have turned their attention to the sea. Alien Abduction – Dolphins presents a playful encounter between a UFO and a group of dolphins, captured in 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver. The design brings a marine twist to Intaglio Mint’s UFO Sightings & Alien Abduction Series.
Earth’s Own Remarkable Travelers
Dolphins are marine mammals in the cetacean group, which also includes whales and porpoises. Although adapted to life in water, they breathe air with lungs and return to the surface to use the blowhole on top of the head.
Many dolphins live socially and rely on a rich world of sound. Clicks can help them locate objects through echolocation, while other vocalizations support communication. Those abilities make them an appealing subject for a fictional meeting with unfamiliar intelligence: the ocean already contains animals with strikingly different ways of experiencing their surroundings.
Obverse Design
A UFO uses a tractor-beam-like device to abduct a group of dolphins. The beam connects the spacecraft and its unexpected passengers, making the action immediately understandable within the round’s circular format.
The scene belongs to science-fiction fantasy. It does not depict a documented encounter, and the dolphins are presented as part of the imaginative story rather than identified as a particular species. The humor comes from taking a familiar alien-abduction idea away from roads and fields and placing marine life at its center.
