Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty half dollar first appeared in 1916, the same year that new designs transformed the dime and quarter. Weinman also designed the Winged Liberty dime, while Hermon MacNeil created the Standing Liberty quarter. Together, those issues gave everyday silver coinage a new visual character.

Walking Liberty tells its story through movement and symbols. Liberty advances toward dawn with the American flag flowing around her. The laurel and oak branches refer to civil and military glory, while the sunrise gives the composition a sense of renewal. A full-length Liberty strides left with her right arm extended and laurel and oak branches held in her left arm. The rising sun appears near the lower edge. “LIBERTY” arcs above the scene, “IN GOD WE TRUST” appears at the right, and “2025” completes the design below.

Reverse Design

The reverse features Intaglio Mint’s stylized Ionic-column “T,” with “INTAGLIO,” “MINT” and “EST. 2010.” Dotted and star borders frame the emblem, while “ONE HALF TROY OUNCE” and “.999 FINE SILVER” identify this round’s content.
