UFOs Over Crop Circles – Patterns Beneath the Visitors
A precise pattern spreads across a field while flying saucers hover beyond it. This 1 troy ounce .999 fine silver round from Intaglio Mint’s UFO Sightings & Alien Abduction Series plays with one of modern UFO folklore’s most recognizable images: an ordinary landscape transformed by extraordinary geometry.
The Story Behind the Patterns
Crop circles became a widely discussed phenomenon in the English countryside, attracting curiosity about how large geometric designs could appear in growing fields. In 1991, Doug Bower and Dave Chorley publicly revealed their role in making many of the formations. Human circle-makers have continued to develop increasingly elaborate designs, combining planning, geometry and an eye for the landscape.
The association with extraterrestrial visitors nevertheless became a durable theme in popular culture. This round embraces that science-fiction image, placing saucers directly above the patterned field. Its appeal lies in the imagined encounter and the striking composition, rather than a claim that crop circles establish alien activity.
Obverse Design
A large interlocking pattern dominates the foreground, combining circular forms with curved, petal-like shapes. Field lines recede toward a distant tree line while several disc-shaped craft cross the open sky. The ground pattern and the saucers echo one another, connecting the two halves of the scene through repeated curves.
The low horizon leaves room for the visitors overhead, while the broad foreground makes the crop design the visual centerpiece.
Reverse Design
The high-relief Intaglio Mint logo sits on a radial burst within a stippled border. “ONE TROY OUNCE” and “.999 FINE SILVER” surround the emblem, with the year 2023 flanking the central design.
