Fugio Cent Tribute – 1 AVDP Oz .999 Fine Copper Round

Colonial Tribute Series

Description

Honor the historic Fugio Cent, authorized by Congress in 1787, with this bold copper tribute. Struck in one avoirdupois ounce of .999 fine copper, this round celebrates the powerful symbolism and practical wisdom that helped define the foundations of American currency.

The obverse features the iconic sundial beneath radiant rays of the sun, paired with the Latin word FUGIO — meaning “I fly” — a reminder of the fleeting nature of time. Beneath the dial appears the legendary phrase MIND YOUR BUSINESS, a call for industry, responsibility, and self-reliance attributed to Benjamin Franklin. The date 1787 anchors the design to the birth era of the nation.

The reverse displays thirteen interlocking chain links forming a continuous circle, each representing one of the original colonies. At the center appears the enduring inscription WE ARE ONE, encircled by UNITED STATES, symbolizing unity, strength, and shared purpose. The outer rim is marked with ONE AVDP OUNCE and the purity hallmark .999 FINE COPPER.

With its rich colonial symbolism, crisp engraving, and warm copper luster, this piece serves as a tangible connection to America’s earliest ideals — making it a meaningful addition for collectors, historians, and patriots alike.
