2024 Kennedy Half with Peace Dollar Obverse – Overstrike Series #1
Overstruck on a 1964 Kennedy Half, this series features obverses of iconic U.S. coinage with a common series reverse. Twelve products will be produced annually, and ONLY 250 pieces will be minted for each.
About the Peace Dollar
Designed by Anthony De Francisci, the Peace Dollar was first produced in December of 1921. The initial production followed a large mintage of Morgans that were struck earlier in the year. The initial Peace Dollar design used high relief, which shortened die life and made it difficult to bring up the details with a single strike. The relief was lowered in 1922 to improve production. The idea for the piece was attributed to Farran Zerbe, a former ANA President, and a promoter of numismatics in the early part of the 20th century.

- Obverse: Lady Liberty, facing left, wearing a diadem of spikes (similar to that seen on the Statue of Liberty). LIBERTY is above, while IN GOD WE TRUST, and the date (2024) are below.
- Reverse: “OVERSTRIKE SERIES” above and below the obverse image of the 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar with the Intaglio Mint Logo flanked by stars on the left and right. “1964 KENNEDY HALF,” “12.50 GRAMS,” TOTAL MINTAGE: 250,” “90% AG,” and “10% CU” around the outer circumference.
Note to collectors: Because this product is overstruck on another coin that has spent 60 years in circulation, each item will be unique and have its own characteristics. Some will be brighter than others, and the position of the devices, both overstruck and original will also differ from one to another.
